As Mother’s Day approaches this weekend, there’s still time to help mom by cleaning out the family taxi! Between shuffling kids and running errands, moms have very little time left over to clean out the stuff that seems to accumulate in the car. Surprise mom this Mother’s Day by giving the simple gift of a clean car.
Start by removing all the trash from inside the vehicle, including anything that has accumulated in the trunk, vacuum the inside and clean the windows.
Moving on to the outside of the vehicle, use a product specifically for cars. An area in the shade or out of the sun is best. Work in sections, thoroughly rinsing away the soap as you go. Clean the fenders and bumpers last since they have the most dirt and grim that can contaminate the wash mitt.
The car should get a final rinse by letting water cascade down the surfaces of the vehicle. To avoid water spots, use a chamois or other product made for drying to dry the car.
Time permitting; you may also want to wax the car according to the manufacturer’s instructions for application. Waxing should always be done out of direct sunlight and every six months.
Any stone chips, rust or other problem spots identified while washing your vehicle should be taken care of immediately to prevent further damage.
For an added touch after the car is clean, consider adding a liter bag or car freshener, or accessorizing mom’s car with new floor mats
Wishing everyone Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Douglas Automotive Repair!
